This is one of my recycled projects!

It’s a round grocery tote that I crocheted with plastic bags made into plarn yarn. These plarn grocery bag reusable so many times and perfect to bring to farmer market.

What is Plarn?  Plarn is plastic grocery bags turned into yarn.

How to Make a Plarn

What you need:

1. grocery bags such as Wal-Mart, Publix, Walgreen ( I used Publix bags)

2. scissors

How to:

1. Lay the bag flat.  Fold it in half and in half again. Cut off the handles and bottom off of the bag, then throw those away.

2. Cut the bag into roughly 1inch strips.

3. Open two strips and loop them together.

4. Continue until you have a large ball.

Round Base of Bag

Round 1 8 chain

Round 2 begin with 3 chins then 17 double crochet stitch

Round 3 begin with 3 chins then 35 double crochet stitch ( see picture 1 )

Round 4 begin with 3 chins then 73 double crochet stitch ( see picture 1 )

Round 5 begin with 3 chins then 1 double crochet stitch , 2 chains, 2 double crochet stitch ( see picture2)

Round 6 begin with 3 chins then 2 double crochet stitch , 3 chains, 2 double crochet stitch ( see picture2)

Round 7 begin with 3 chins then 2 double crochet stitch , 5 chains, 3 double crochet stitch ( see picture2)

Round 8 begin with 3 chins then 4 double crochet stitch , 7 chains, 5 double crochet stitch ( see picture3 )

Round 9 begin with singer crochet then 10 chains ( see picture 4) for 20 rows

Top of the bag

Begin with 3 chins then 6 double crochet stitch , 1 double crochet stitch on singer crochet for 4 rows.

Bag’s handle

Begin with singer crochet on the top ( find the center of the bag ) crochet 100 chains , then singer crochet on the top 3 rows ( see picture 5) finish of and weave under ends.
